Scope & Content Made of Paper/Ink. Rectangular paper money. Front: "25" In four corners. "Twenty Five Cents" along top and bottom. At top "The Dominion of Canada will pay on demand". Engraved "Ottawa, July 2nd 1923.". Typed signature "S.P. McCavour" the "Controller of Currency" at bottom left. Engraved signature "J.C. Saunders" the "Deputy Minister of Finance" at bottom right. Head and torso of Britannia figure holding her trident at centre in oval. Large brown "25" at left below serial number "545951". Black letter "C" at left edge. "Department of Finance Canada" seal at right. At bottom "Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited." In white border. Colour: Black with brown tint on white background. Back: Lathework design with "25" six times and "Cents" four times. At bottom "Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited.". Colour: Green on white background. Commonly known as a "Shinplaster". J.C. Saunders was the Deputy Minister of Finance from 1920 to 1929. the S.P. McCavour-J.C. Saunders notes were delivered intermittently between April 1925 and March 1932. 5,130,000 were printed. of the three issues of 25 cent notes this is the only one that received serial numbers. face plate number - 6. back plate number - 3. the back is remained unchanged from the 1900 issue.
