Description Black and white Photograph of the opening of CKOX in December of 1947 showing MP for Oxford Mr. Ken Daniels speaking into the microphone (as identified in hand writing on the back of the photo in pencil). There is also a stamp on the back of the photo in black ink which reads: "CKOX".
Provenance CKOX began its operation with its inaugural broadcast on December 6, 1947, CKOX was created by John "Monty" Werry, a former chief engineer with the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corportaion). CKOX moved to this location from its former one at 380 Hunter Street in 1954. CKOX commenced operation with 250 watts of power and increased to 600 watts in 1965. CKOX turned to CKDK, then K102 FM, K104, and finally to Energy Radio in 1998.
