Description A pale, black and white, head and shoulders studio photo of a man (aged about 16 to 25 years) with medium dark, short hair (straight on the sides and wavy on the top) who is wearing a dark jacket & vest with white dress shirt. He is staring about 45 degree angle right of the camera. The photo is frosted around the outer edges. It is mounted on cream coloured mat board with the photographer's info "THE ONLY AND ORIGINAL / SIMPSON BROS. / (Crest) / 357 YONGE STREET / ARTISTS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS / OPP. ELM ST. / TORONTO. / EVERY PICTURE GUARANTEED." Embossed in gold at the bottom.
Provenance Removed from page 10 of the photo album X1987.179.01 on 2002-03-14. Photo album believed to have been owned by Margaret Ross. The most likely Ross family that this could be, from Innerkip, is this one, found in the 1881 Census: John Ross, head, age 69 (buried in Innerkip Cemetery Oct 20, 1891 age 80 yr 5 m); Ellen Ross, wife, age 47 (buried in Innerkip Cemetery Apr 23, 1912); sons Alexander, age 21; Robert, age 20; John, age 19; Adam, age 18; daughters Ellen, age 9; and Annie, age 6. John, age 19 in 1881 may be the John who was Margaret and Donald Ross' father.
