The Museum's collection contains over 23,000 artifacts, including over 8,500 object, 11,000 photographic images and 3,500 archival documents of Woodstock's history and can be viewed here.
Note: Each artifact record will only contain one image of the artifact. The images are low quality, have been watermarked and some images will be better than others. Due to Copyright Restrictions not all photographic artifacts will have an image attached to the record. If no Image appears where the image should be, then we are not able to show that image on-line. To see these photographs, you will need Book an Appointment with the Collection/Exhibit Coordinator at the museum.
Artifact images can be reproduced in a digital format only for a nominal fee, see fee schedule below. This includes scanning of photographing and archival materials or photographing 3D artifacts to create a digital image.
Note: For archival material such as photographs, art, publications, etc... only material that are in the public domain or that the Museum owns copyright can be reproduced.
To request reproductions, please fill out our online Image Reproduction Request Form and submitted to start the process. Staff will then contact you to confirm your request and let you know if there are any issues with the requested materials and the final price. Full payment must be made before images can be picked up or sent. Payment can be made at the Museum by cash, debit or credit. Payment can also be made over the phone by credit card.
Fees (per image) Digital Copy = $10 If the image will be published in any format (Book, Newspaper, Magazine, Website (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc...), an extra $10 publication fee is added. All fees collected are used for the care of this collection
Searching The Collection
The Keyword Search button allows you to perform a general search across multiple fields for any catalog records online. Keyword searches use OR as the default connector between words (e.g. a search for Hanley Ranch will return records associated with Hanley OR Ranch). If you want to find records where both keywords are found, type in AND between the two words. To search for a specific phrase, be sure to put the phrase within quotes (e.g. "Rocky Pine Ranch"). You can also use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard (e.g. a search for histor* would come up with records containing history, histories, historical, etc.). Searches are not case sensitive.
The Advanced Search button can help you be more specific with your search. You can search for a word or phrase within a particular search category or use multiple categories to further narrow down your search results. For example, searching White in the People field will bring up any records associated with a member of the White family, without having to sift through black & white photographs. You can also search People and Creator records through Advanced Search. Phrase searching with quotes and use of wildcards (*) are available in Advanced Search. This feature is Not Available on mobile devices
The Random Images button is a great way to just browse the collection. Each Random Images page displays a random assortment of images from the records online. If something piques your interest, click the thumbnail to view a larger version of the image.
Catalog Searches (Archives / Photos / Objects)
The catalog buttons can also help narrow down your search, by only searching with a selected catalog. If you only want to search for Photos, click the Photos button and type in your keyword(s) or phrase. You can also browse records within that catalog without performing a search. Phrase searching, wildcards (*) as well as AND/OR statements are available when performing catalog searches. This feature is Not Available on mobile devices
