Scope & Content Made of Paper/Ink. Rectangular paper money. Front: White border around outside. Black and white framing with swirling effect at each corner. Along top in framing - "ALLIIERTE MILITARBEHORDE". Along sides and bottom in framing - some web-like designs. Lilac on light blue colouring in middle. Vine like designs in background. Black net design through the middle. Print is lilac; in the centre is the letter "M" with a circle around it and another circle around the first. "5" Is in each corner, "IN UMLAUF GESETZT IN DEUTCHLAND" on the upper half, 9 digit serial number "053072316" (in black ink) through the middle, "FUNF MARK" and "SERIE 1944" on the lower half. Back: Brown ink. White border around the bill. Web design throughout the frame of design. Large white "M" in the center with a netting design around the "M". This currency was stored inside Wilfred Shrimpton's soldier's wallet (1998.56.62.01). The wallet held currency 1988.56.62.02-07 and coins 1988.56.62.08-20. The Allied Military Currency was in circulation with Reichmark and Rentenmark notes, and were also used by German civilians. This is a Forbes printed note (issued by Western Allies).
